What to Expect at Your First Visit
It is natural to be nervous at your first office visit, but we are dedicated to answering all of your questions and working with you in your care. It is our goal to give each patient the utmost in care and service. While occasionally emergencies or other delays may cause us to fall behind schedule, we are committed to giving all of our patients the attention they need and we appreciate your understanding.
If you’re a first-time patient, upon arrival for your appointment you’ll be greeted by either a volunteer or our friendly staff and directed where to go. A member of our greeting team will lead you through a new patient orientation, followed by a financial counselor who will verify insurance information and discuss financial support options. You’ll then be led to your care team’s exam room, where your physician will perform a consult, discuss testing needs and treatment options, and begin scheduling a treatment plan. Throughout your appointment, you will be supported by your care team and our staff who are ready to answer all of your questions.
Your life changes forever when you learn you have cancer, but not always in the way you imagine. Our patients often tell us about the transformations that they undergo through their cancer journeys: letting go of the ‘small stuff,’ gaining clarity on what’s important, learning to get the most out of every day. Cancer patients face a unique set of challenges, and in the face of those challenges they find support and strength in family, friends and their providers at Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology.
From knowing what questions to ask your provider to learning what resources are available in the community, the information that exists about cancer care can be overwhelming. Let our highly skilled staff of providers, nurses and support staff help guide you along your journey.
