APPLETON, Wis. (June 20, 2017) – Shawn Kienert, chief financial officer of Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology (FVHO), northeastern Wisconsin’s cancer care specialist, has been named the Corporate Walk Chair of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2017 Light The Night annual fundraising event.
In his role as Corporate Walk Chair, Kienert will lead efforts to increase corporate financial support and drive revenue growth for Light The Night to support LLS’s ultimate goal of creating a world without blood cancer.
“It is not only an honor, but a privilege to serve as the Corporate Walk Chair for the 2017 Light The Night walk, as I know first-hand how important this event is to those affected by cancer,” Kienert said. “I look forward to working with area businesses in this new role by fundraising to allow us to take whatever steps we can to end cancer.”
Kienert has served as FVHO’s CFO since April 2014. During his time as CFO, Kienert has worked to raise more than $40,000 in for last year’s Light The Night event, which is held each fall to find cures and provide access to treatment for blood cancer patients.
Kienert’s efforts to raise these generous funds that help support Light The Night and LLS included establishing a corporate matching campaign with Buffalo Wild Wings, organizing various rummage sales and basket auctions.
“Shawn has been an integral part of the Appleton Light The Night fundraising event and we are ecstatic he is being recognized for his hard work,” Dr. Timothy Goggins, chief medical officer and physician at FVHO, said.
This year’s Light The Night walk will be held Oct. 6, 2017, in Appleton. For more information about FVHO, please visit www.fvho.org. More information about LLS and Light The Night can be found at www.lightthenight.org.
