Tips for Patients and Families

One of the best ways to face any fears you have about your diagnosis is be informed about the decisions you will have to make about your treatment. Your FVHO provider will work with you to answer any questions you have concerning your evaluation, treatment and possible side effects. The sooner you know about side effects and possible treatments, the more likely you are to protect yourself against them, or manage them more effectively.

Remember, there is no such thing as a ‘dumb’ question, especially when it comes to your health. You may want to do your own research before your appointment, and come equipped with a list of questions for your provider. By taking notes—or having a member of your support team take notes—you will be able to refer back to any points you need to revisit.
